Welcome ADA Rep Joey Jones
The American Darters Association (ADA) would like to welcome our newest Representative, Joey Jones to our growing dart family! Joey is representing the greater Sarpy County, NE area. In addition too, Joey is also the Owner of ‘Heights Draft Room‘ in La Vista, NE.
The Heights has been open for 3 months (Late July) which is fantastic, especially during the COVID era! From the Heights Draft Room Website, “You don’t have to look far to see where we come from. Calling Sarpy County home for more than three generations, it was easy to choose La Vista to be the location for our business. Brothers Joey, Justin, Jared along with parents Mike and Kathy, have created a spot for all, novice or experienced, to come and share their love for beer. Heights Draft Room is built for the community from the community. No matter who you are, where you are from, or what you drink, we say thank you for joining us in celebrating our passion!”
Joey adds, “I always wanted to be apart of the community I grew up in from a business sense. There are so many great people in the area and we thought it would be amazing to have a place focusing on craft beer and cocktails right around the corner rather than having to drive across town to enjoy it.”
Now that the doors have been open and the official business ribbon cut, Joey and his staff now set their sights on the American Dart League! This would be his first step and venture into our sport of darts, and we will take him!
He has been playing darts about as long as he has been able to be in and around the bar scene, so roughly 9 years. It has always been his favorite bar game to play with friends.
“I think our vibe and feel matches the type of dart set up we went with, steel tip. We get compliments it feels like a English pub, and when you think pub, after a pint of beer, you think darts”, Joey comments. And how could we not support a sport played one-handed!
With 30+ draft lines at Heights Draft Room its hard to pick just one. They have put on over 100 different beers in less than 3 months! Joey’s favorite and the one that really hit a chord with him was Hacker-Pschorr Okotberfest. “There is just something so simple yet, perfect about a traditional German lager. Nearly impossible to have something as drinkable as those.”
When Joey isn’t at the Draft Room or promoting the sport of darts, he turns to another sport, Golf. Golf is his second passion behind beer, after that he loves being in and around the kitchen. “If you don’t catch me on the course in my free time you can bet I am looking up recipes or cooking something to expand my knowledge in the kitchen.”
“Just like other small businesses, right now more than ever its important to frequent your local bars, taverns, and breweries. These times are not easy on anyone, business owner and patrons both. While some of the restrictions are not fun or enjoyable its important to remember to follow local health measures to ensure your local stop continues to stay open not only short term, but for the future. Take time to thank the staff and bartenders at these places. We love seeing people on the other side of the bar, that’s what gets us up in the morning, and I can assure we want continue mixing drinks, pouring beers, and getting to serve you during and after this is all behind us.”
