What is the United Singles League of America?

The United Singles League of America (USLA) is a new league offering long format 501 singles matchplay for players anywhere in the United States.  USLA organizers have been providing organized league play for many years with DoubleCork/PDSL, NAPDO, ADA and other organizations, and are now joining forces to elevate competition nationwide.

The United Singles League of America is for anyone looking to play professional-style long format matches on a weekly basis either for recreation or as training for tournament competition.

Basic League Details

Note: Use of DartConnect is mandatory for all match scorekeeping

If you can form a group of 5-10 players committed to playing a 14-week season, you can play in the USLA!

Season Format – All groups will play a 14 week season with a round-robin schedule that varies depending on group size (see below). For groups that have more than 14 matches, all matches must still be played within the 14 week season or by the end of a 2-week makeup match period at season’s end.  Players with incomplete seasons may lose playoff eligibility.

Match Format – Groups have the option of choosing from one of 4 match formats (see below).  Each format has pros/cons to accommodate different needs, but each contain a minimum # of legs to provide an acceptable league player ranking. Match duration should be approx. 1.5-2.5 hours. Division standings are based on total set or leg points and league rankings are determined by 3-dart average (PPR).

Playing Venue – Since there is no sponsor fee, you are free to play at the venue of your choice and may play matches in any location that meets the approval of both players.

Regional Playoffs – At the end of the season, regional playoffs will be scheduled with cash awards.  Final details will be determined once regional signups are completed.

National Playoffs – Currently under development, the USLA is working on details for providing a National Championship.

League Fees: $60 / player.   This fee covers all league operational costs, including:

  • 1-year ADA individual membership (includes eligibility for ADA National Championships)
  • DartConnect League Services: Scoring app, DCTV, Div. Standings, Player Leaderboards
  • ADA League Office Administration
  • Playoff Awards
  • CDC Tour Card for Regional Champions

Group Size Options – Divisions may consist of one the following:

  • 5 Players – play each other 3x/season – 12 matches
  • 6 Players – play each other 3x/season – 15 matches
  • 7 players – play each other 2x/season – 12 matches
  • 8 players – play each other 2x/season – 14 matches
  • 9 players – play each other 2x/season – 16 matches
  • 10 players – play each other 2x/season – 18 matches

Match Format Options – Choose one of four formats that best suits your needs.  Entire division MUST play the same format. All matches will be 501 SIDO, cork first leg then alternate start throughout.

Option 1:  World Championship Setplay – Best of 5 sets/ each set Best of 5 legs.  Same format used at the PDC World Championships.

Why choose this format:  Each set is a match within a match, adding “short format” pressure to long format play.  Maintaining a lead can be more difficult. Cons:  # of legs and match length can be unpredictable (minimum 9 legs, maximum 25).  Recommended for groups with averages above 60 ppr.

Option 2:  Extended Setplay – Play all 3 sets/ each set Best of 9 legs.

Why choose this format:  Similar to option 1, but with longer sets. More guaranteed legs than World Champion format.  Cons:  # of legs and match length can be unpredictable (minimum 15 legs, maximum 27).  DO NOT choose this format if match length is a concern. Recommended for groups with averages above 60 ppr.

Option 3:  Race to 11 – Single set / Best of 21 legs

Why choose this format:  More common than set play and provides 11 legs minimum.  Single set puts more value on individual leg wins with large leads possible.  Cons:  # of legs and match length can be variable and unpredictable (minimum 11 legs, maximum 21).  Recommended for groups with averages below 60 ppr or a mix of high average and low average players.

Option 4:  15 Leg Match – Single set / Play all 15 legs

Why choose this format:  Choose this format if you want to have a more predictable match length while guaranteeing a healthy minimum # of legs.    Cons:  Less emphasis on match wins, more emphasis on leg wins.  Recommended for groups with averages below 60 ppr or a mix of high average and low average players.

I have players from the Central Virginia that are looking forward to playing a singles league, but as the group leader I have tried to submit our application but too only have it returned to my inbox as a invalid email.
