Bud Pro Tour reaches CaddyShack in Wentzville
Bud Pro Tour reaches CaddyShack in Wentzville
By Karl Remick, ADA VP
One of the many days spent in the office last May; Chris and I began planning the June, Area 633, Bud Pro Tour. Something we attempt with each tour stop, is to have it at a nearby location that hosts 633 ADL Leagues; in order to compliment the venue. The following month, we tried to hold the BPT at a location where there isn’t league play; with the intention of getting a league started there. Introducing our Members to a new location, helps to survey what they think about the establishment and if they would enjoy having a league night there. While going through the list, we came across not only a great place; but also, the title to a hilarious movie on each of our favorites lists: CaddyShack.
CaddyShack is located at 1229 Wentzville Pkwy, Wentzville, MO 63385. They offer both soft and steel tip leagues. The American Dart League will be starting up a Steel Tip Open League in the Fall Season (August time frame). This is an excellent place to compete out of. CaddyShack is always accomadating; whether it be the plenty of space in the dart area (4 boards), the friendly service, the great drink selection (10 beers on tap!), or the low priced but great tasting food! Even the portions are more than adequate; just try the Grilled Cheesburger (a burger with two grilled cheese sandwiches in place of buns) with a side of tator tots, and you’ll quickly see!
June’s Bud Pro Tour was the ADA Area 633’s first Steel Tip Bud Pro Tour of 2016. The Professionals on hand were Derek Brown, Brian Obrecht, Nancy Cromer, Jennifer Schuler, Shaun Matlock and Mike Geiser. Special guest and Professional from ADA Area 622 was Mike “Monster” Johnson. It was great to have Mike come over from IL.
We normally start the day with a small, 501, warm-up challenge against the local Pros that is free to enter. This time, it was decided to skip the warm-up in order to allow more time for the Blind Draw Bounty; since it was Steel Tip. Plus, with $550 added to the pot by CaddyShack; we anticipated a great turnout. The format consisted of a Double Elimination, best of 3 on both sides; with Cricket being the first game, 501 (open in, double out, split bull) for the second, and the cork winner’s choice if a third. The Bouny part of the Blind Draw means that if a team consisted of a 633 Pro at all, there was a $5 bounty on their head. If the Pro gets knocked out of the Draw completely, not just beat in the winner’s side, each team member who knocked the Pro out gets $5 each!
Though Mike was not the only guest in the house. Members and players came from all surrounding areas including Keith Sexton and Jody Missey from Triple Threat Dart Supplies. Triple Threat Darts took their shop on the road and set up an excellent selection of flights, tips, shafts and more! Triple Threat Darts is located at 6035 Chippewa St. St. Louis, MO. 63109. Their website is http://www.triplethreatdarts.com/ We thank Keith and Jody and look forward to future events with the ADA/American Dart League! Keith was even able to participate and came away with 1st place with draw partner; 633 Pro, Derek Brown.
We also welcomed fellow President of the MVDO and Triple Threat Dart Supplies partner, Darryl Marler, to the event. Not only was it excellent having him in attendance; he was able to make it out with a 2nd place finish with draw partner, Jon Rimert.
Thanks to Julianna and Paul from CaddyShack. Everyone seemed to love the food, service, drinks, and establishment. There were fun BUD prizes given out, a lot of great darts thrown, and it was just a great time overall.
Don’t forget that Steel Tip Leagues will be starting in August out of CaddyShack. There is Soft Tip availability too. For more info or interest in joining these sessions, contact: Chris Stone 636.614.4380 x 1004 or cstone@adadarters.com
