ADA Area 221 – Summer Showdown
Summer Showdown
By Heather Sarandos, ADL 221 Division Rep
Five years ago, the world lost Stephen Sarandos an avid dart player, unexpectedly to heart failure. To honor his memory, Michael and Heather Sarandos (pictured below) put together the Summer Showdown dart tournament June 23-25, 2017, to raise money for Save a Child’s Heart Foundation http://www.saveachildsheartus.org/ This foundation is an international organization whose sole purpose is to treat children with heart defects who do not have access to health care.
Dart players from all over Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland came together for this amazing cause, once again showing that the dart world is full of amazingly supportive and generous players. The Summer Showdown is an annual event at the end of June hosted at Mighty Mike’s Bar & Grill in Sterling, Virginia.
With the support of many individuals, Extreme Darts, Dominion Darts, the Dart Guys, and the American Darters Association, the event raised just over $1,200. All donations were made in memory of Stephen H. Sarandos who dedicated his life to helping kids.
This event was created by Michael Sarandos to keep the memory of his father alive through the sport of darts. Join us next year for this fun weekend of competition for a great cause!
