Retirement Reflections with Cindy Larkins

The ADA is approaching its final Regional of 2016. This year’s event will be held October 21st – 23rd at Side Pockets in Blue Springs. As many of you know, Blue Springs also happens to be the origin of the American Dart League with our very first ADA Rep, Cindy Larkins. Cindy has been with us for 25 years and will be retiring at the end of this year. We had the pleasure of hearing some of Cindy’s thoughts and wisdom over the summer and had ADA Member, Angie Zanardelli Sickler, compile them into the following article. Retirement Reflections with Cindy Larkins

Cindy Larkins, the ADA’s longest-running representative and recent retiree, was graciously willing to share with us some insights and memories from her 25 years with the ADA.  The following is not only a personal reflection of Cindy’s feedback regarding her time aboard, but also clear indicator of her invaluable dedication and commitment to the ADA family.

What would you consider your greatest memories of running the American Dart League of Kanas City?

One of my fondest memories is the Nationals. I met so many nice people and had a blast. I really cherished the friendships I formed with local dart players. In fact, I viewed many of the local participants as my children. Aside from Nationals, I valued the stories told by Glenn Remick. I could listen to him for hours. He was truly the most positive, upbeat person I’ve ever known. To say he is missed is an understatement.

I understand that David Seibert and Cliff Mutchler along will be taking over in your area. Any thoughts on this transition?

David Seibert and Cliff Mutchler are doing an incredible job with the league and I am so proud of them. I know they will carry on the 25 years I owned the league in both a professional and smart way. I am so happy they showed interest in buying the league when my eyesight began to fail and I could no longer perform my job as I was once able.  I want to thank them for keeping me involved as much as possible. They’ve made the transition easy.

Do you have any plans for retirement?

I will probably do some traveling to Florida where my son has relocated. In addition, I now spend more time with family and friends. To the dart players: my phone number is the same so please keep in touch!

It’s been great sharing in your reflection, Cindy. Anything else you’d like the readers to know?

I plan to attend Nationals in the future so keep an eye out for me and for me and say hi!  Also, always shoot to win but remember, it’s a game. Darts is the sport that starts and ends with a handshake. SHOOT WELL!
