ADA Member Wins Trip to Rams NFL Game in Seattle during league night!
It was a normal Monday night for our American Dart League steel tip group ADA Area 633. Great darts, food and beer specials and a fantastic staff at Hotshots Wentzville. Normal until, the Bud Light crew came in with their NFL Bud Light football challenge!
Hotshots and Bud Light teamed up to give away two FREE tickets to the Rams Seahawks game in Seattle! And not only free tickets to the game, but the winner received free hotel and airfare! What a contest! Each Hotshots location got involved and hosted their own Steel Tip Darts NFL Dart Challenge. The challenge was free to any and all players/patrons who were at the Hotshots location at the time of the event. Then each finalist from each location would compete in the finals for the grand prize. Luckily for our group it was on the same night as our American Dart League play!
A total of 16 players participated in the challenge at the Hotshots Wentzville location. The board that we played on was a make shift steel tip NFL scoring board. In stead of our normal segments, the board was covered with NFL and Bud Light logos with sections of different targets. The points were made through Touchdown’s, Field Goals and Safety’s. You had 6 darts to throw trying to obtain the highest score. ADA Member Mike Keane came up with the highest score of 37 points for that night. Which gave him the win and to be entered in to the Finals to be held at Hotshots Fenton on Monday, December 14th.
The first round of the final competition did not start well for Mike as he got knocked into the losers bracket right off the bat. The determined dart player he is, Mike clawed his way back through the losers bracket and found himself in the finals match! After a couple grueling sets, Mike came out on top double dipping the king’s seat! Winner! Pack your bags Mike, you and your girlfriend Kimberly are on your way to Seattle!
Mike has been an ADA Member since 2012, but has been throwing darts for about 6 years. He started throwing for fun and progressively got better. Deciding to stick with it, Mike started joining local leagues and entering blind draw tournaments.
You would think living in St. Louis, his favorite team would be the Rams. Alas, they are not. His favorite football team is the New England Patriots. He commented “I know that’s like a sin here in St. Louis because of the whole “spygate” Super Bowl, but Tom Brady is my favorite QB to watch play the game. I think I like the Patriots the most because they are hated by so many fans everywhere for being great every year”.
Some other activities Mike enjoy’s other than darts, are playing hockey or any sport in general, and fantasy sports. “Fantasy sports are my favorite activity, I consider it my hobby. Pretty much anything that involves competition, I like it. I enjoy putting a little money on the line whether it’s darts, bowling, tennis, foosball, golden tee, bar games especially,” he adds.
“I average about 4 full time fantasy football leagues each year. Through both ESPN and Yahoo. Unfortunately this year I was plagued by injuries on a few of my teams. However, I did manage to win a championship in one of my PPR ESPN leagues so that made up for the losses,” says Mike.
So statistically, Mike didn’t do well in his fantasy leagues this year, a one for four. However he did win big with the Bud Light Hotshots Steel Tip Dart Challenge! We appreciate Mike as an ADA Member and glad he got the chance on a league night to compete for the Rams Seahawks NFL Tickets! Congrats again Mike! Oh the outcome of the game you ask…….well living in St. Louis you pretty much already know the outcome of each game………however and maybe it was Mike and Kimberly being there from St. Louis, but the Rams beat the Seahawks 23 – 17!
A huge thanks to Hotshots Wentzville Manager Thomas Morgan and his great staff for always taking care of our members each week and to Bud Light Beer for all they do nationwide for our ADA Members!
