2019 JCC St. Louis Senior Olympics
By Nancy Cromer, ADA Rep
Memorial Day weekend ADL Tournament Director April Fitzgerald directed the JCC St. Louis Senior Olympics, in the Darts Competition. This year was the 40th annual St. Louis Senior Olympics held at St. Louis’s own landmark Blueberry Hill. This event along with each category promotes health and wellness by providing opportunities in social events and competitive sports for men and women aged 50 or better.
St. Louis is home to a very prestigious Senior Games. With 200+Volunteers and 90 events, more than 1,100 participants have the chance to compete in these games. The ADA is proud to have volunteered at this event for the last 20+ years.
The dart competition is an individual Steel Tip medal event. The goal is to have the highest score after 7 rounds of darts. Each participant can throw 3 practice darts. English Steel Tip darts are provided, and the scoring is done manually. Ms. Fitzgerald enjoyed helping with the event and spending the day with the seniors.
“It was a hoot being at the Senior Olympics. They are proof age is just a number . The competitors were definitely there to compete. I was so inspired and glad to be a part of this event”, April added.
