April 30, 2009
Budweiser Pro Tour
March Bud Pro Tour and ADA Pro Challenge
By Karl Remick, General Manager

Can’t keep a good thing down! The Budweiser Pro Tours (BPT) and ADA Pro Challenges continue on into the Spring. The BPT's are held on the last Wednesday of each month, while the ADA Pro Challenges can be any day of the week during the month.

ADA Pros take on challengers in a doubles game of 501. There is no entry fee with prizes awarded throughout the evening. Even though Pros are involved this event is not geared for the best darters. In fact, quite the opposite as this evening is a lot of fun mixed with great competitive darts. Starting time is 8:00 PM and participants enter with the ADA management team selecting their partner through a draw doubles format.

During the two hours of competition any of the teams that defeat the Pros qualify for the 10:00 PM playoff with two grand prizes awarded at the end. Host locations change each month. Sponsorship of the program comes from the local Anheuser-Busch wholesaler. Unfortunately not all are currently involved in the program so check the “Upcoming Events” section of the ADA home page for the tavern in your market

March Budweiser Pro Tour
Essex, VT
Location: Backstage Pub
ADA Pros: Lorne Langlais (20.1 PPDA) and Sophie Vibert (12.7 PPDA)

Out first stop for the Budweiser Pro Tour takes us to Region 1 and Backstage Pub in Essex, VT. Fred and Liz are the owners of Backstage and very gracious hosts. Their establishment is very well suited for darts with 7 boards set up throughout and portables that they bring out on higher dart traffic nights.

This month we had a Pro husband and wife combo: Lorne Langlais and Sophie Vibert. In all they played 14 matches losing only 1 to the team of Jeff Griffin and Ray Laroche from our very own Blue Division up in St. Albans. Although no 180’s were thrown this night both Sophie and Lorne hit many 140+ and 100+ darts. With 10 of the matches being finished on their 1st attempt at an out shot, very nice darts!!

Budweiser came through again and ensured that the night was another success by providing the grand prizes for the event. The team of Jeff and Ray being the only one’s who beat the Pro’s were the winners of the Budweiser set of darts. “I really feel like they represented the ADA and darts in general very well this night”, states ADA Pro Lorne Langlais.

The night was yet another huge success for the ADA and Budweiser and we are looking forward to next months event.

March Budweiser Pro Tour
Newport News, VA
Location: Sandbar
ADA Pro's: Tony Smeland (23.42) and Mark Youngblood (28.20)

Region 1 to Region 2. Newport News, Virginia and the ever popular bar with 3 names! Welcome to the Sandbar - Philly’s or - The Biz! This place has everything: Great food, live music, games galore and the Budweiser Pro Tour!

The Pros for this month are Tony Smeland and Mark “YB” Youngblood. Tonight the Pro Team went undefeated playing 8 matches. A bunch of tons and high outs! “Tony and Mark, long time friends, love to play with one another, and can pick up the other one anytime in the match”, states ADA Rep Rob Coleman. “They travel the country playing together” , he concludes.

Let’s see if the Region 2 Pro’s can keep the streak up in the month of April!

March Budweiser Pro Tour
St. Peters MO
Location: Rader’s
ADA Pro's: Paul Schaeffler (22.690 and Deb Kornmann (14.28)

Across the US to the ADA’s home base of St. Charles County. Rader’s is right up highway 70 due east to the city of St. Peters. New owner Randy Horst was ecstatic to hear the Tour was stopping by his new establishment. And what perfect timing as the Jagermeister girls were there promoting as well.

ADA Pro’s Paul and Deb squeaked by this month winning 9 matches and losing 8. A battle the whole night as teams were paired really well. Winners that came on top were Josh and Karen! They were awarded Sportcraft Unicorn Darts. A huge thanks to Budweiser for the runner up prizes and raffles throughout the whole night! Next month’s tour stops in the new bar of CaddyShack in Wentzville! See you then!

March Budweiser Pro Tour
Greeley, CO
Location: Sports Zone
ADA Pro's: Thad Fraedrich (24.24) and Jeff Jacobson (22.57)

Continuing the theme of wagon’s west, we head to the mountains of Colorado, and Region 6. Our stop, Sports Zone, owners Joe and Kathy Leija are thrilled that the tour is coming by their location this month!

Thad and Jeff played extremely well and out of 7 matches only losing 1! Thad had 5 tons and Jeff 3. Winners of the event were ADA Members Sally Thornson and Pam Schell. Budweiser gave away Bud Sweatshirts for the winners and a grand prize of a Bud Polo shirt to Tracy Peterson. Other prizes of the night were hats, buckets, koozie’s and Bud Tee’s. See you in the Mountains for next month’s!

ADA Pro Challenge
Kansas City, MO
Location: BullsEye Bar and Deli
ADA Pro: Jim Yates (24.69)

The Bud Pro Tour ends in Region 6 and we move on to the 2nd ADA Pro Challenge in Kansas City, MO. The ADA Pro Challenge is similar to the BPT, with some minor adjustments on the local level.

Kansas City's Pro Challenge was held at the dart bar BullsEye Bar and Deli. ADA Pro Jim Yates took on 12 challengers and winning 11 of the 12. Jim hit 6 T80’s and one match threw a Double Bull out for a win! Another match by Jim, he threw a 12 dart out! “Excellent darts by Jim, he really showed what it was like to be an ADA Professional tonight,” says ADA Rep Cindy Larkins. The Grand Prize winner of the night was Adam Mullis, who won a certificate from the host location.

Watch out for Kansas City's next Challenge coming in March!
