Twenty nine years ago the Jewish Community Center hosted the first St. Louis Senior Olympics. Today it still plays host to this great event. In fact the Senior Olympics has expanded and is now held in every state!
The St. Louis Senior Olympics took place May 23-26. Their mission is to promote, coordinate and support the health and wellness of men and women 50 years of age and older, by providing them the opportunities to participate in competitive and social events.

There are dozens of indoor/outdoor events with thousands of seniors grouped in five-year age increments. Staffed by hundreds of volunteers, gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to the top three in every event. Medal winners qualify for the State Games who then compete for the National Senior Olympics held every two-years on the odd years.

The ADA introduced darts here 13 years ago and the participants have grown every year. On Saturday I had the privilege of working with Co-Event Director Pat Fox. The format is one game of High Score (21 darts/7 turns) and the venue was the Blueberry Hill. Owner Joe Edwards reserved the famous Dart Room for the Seniors.
